## Teachers
- [Drums – Rhys Dixon](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/drums-rhys-dixon/): Rhys had his first drum lesson at the age of 11 and strongly believes it is important for everyone to have a teacher, no matter the skill level. With 10 years of being the student, he's learnt many perspectives and methods of teaching to form a unique approach. Rhys specialises in Pop/Rock/Latin and overall drumming technique. Rhys hails from the North East, and studied music at Gateshead College, becoming a session drummer at the Sage (The Glasshouse). 3 years later, he graduated from Leeds Conservatoire and has since been gigging in prolific venues such as The Cluny in Newcastle, Belgrave in Leeds and Jack White's record shop, London. Rhys currently plays for Robyn Banks and Tom A Smith (signed to Fiction Records) as a Session Drummer, with opportunities to play SXSW 2026 in Austin, Texas and sold out shows across the UK. After university, teaching was always a route Rhys wanted to take, now teaching in schools across Yorkshire as well as the Leeds studio!
- [Guitar – Dan Hardy](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/guitar-dan-hardy/): Dan is the latest guitar teacher to join our Leeds studio. Dan began playing guitar whilst in primary school and has spent the last decade playing and producing guitar. A current final year student at Leeds Conservatoire, Dan has been studying Music Production since 2023 and has worked with a range of jazz bands, orchestras and pop artists. Dan also writes & produces for his own band KALIKO alongside studio manager James. Dan takes a student-led approach to teaching, placing your interests and enjoyment at the heart of your learning experience.
- [Drums – Jack Lennon](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/drums-jack-lennon/): Jack Lennon is a drummer from Ireland, now based in Oxford. He has been playing drums for 10 years and recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Commercial Modern Music from the BIMM Institute Dublin, where he developed a strong foundation in music theory and performance. Alongside his studies, he has built up two years of teaching experience working with students of varying ages and abilities. Having loved drum lessons when he first started out, Jack knows first-hand how rewarding it can be to learn an instrument. His favourite thing about teaching is helping students express themselves musically, have fun, and achieve their goals. Whether it’s nailing their first beat or mastering more advanced techniques. He believes lessons should be enjoyable as well as educational, and tailors his approach to suit each individual student. Jack’s favourite styles include rock, pop, metal and fusion, and he believes enthusiasm and energy to everything he plays.
- [Vocals – Lois](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/vocals-lois/): Lois is a versatile vocal tutor with a strong foundation in both performance and technique. She has received certifications from both ABRSM and London College of Music for singing. In 2021, Lois moved to Manchester to train in Musical Theatre where she earned herself a first class degree. Lois is now an active performer within the industry and has since performed in fantastic venues such as the Phoenix Arts club in Soho and the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester. Alongside teaching Lois also gigs for private events with a more Pop/Rock focused repertoire. Lessons will be tailored to each student, whether that’s building confidence, improving technique or growing a versatile repertoire. Lois will always provide a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for you to explore & shine bright.
- [Drums – Jasper Pink](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/drums-jasper-pink/): Jasper Pink is a talented, passionate drum teacher based in Stratford-upon-Avon. A bilingual music scholar at Warwick School, Jasper holds Grade 8 in both Drums and Jazz Saxophone. As the drummer for rock band Floor 24, he has performed at venues including Pizza Express Live Soho and Butterworth Hall. His musical style spans rock, jazz, funk, and pop, bringing a broad, exciting perspective to his lessons. Jasper also works as an A/V technician with Clearsound Productions and has recorded at top studios like Woodbine. His calm, friendly teaching style works well with all ages and experience levels, including SEN and neurodiverse students. With a Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and experience as a martial arts coach, Jasper brings discipline, confidence, and energy to his sessions.
- [Drums – Nick Poyner](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/drums-nick-poyner/): Nick Poyner is a Session Drummer & Tutor with over 20 years of playing and teaching experience. Trained with world-leading drummers, he studied Popular Music Performance at music college, holding Grade 8 drums and professional teaching qualifications. His career spans high-level live and studio work, including touring with The Drifters, recording for The Godfathers, and working with blues artists Dino Baptiste and Rebecca Downes. As a session drummer, Nick records across a broad range of projects, from commercial ads to solo artist releases. His wider skillset includes live sound engineering, musical direction, and tour technical work. As a tutor, Nick works with students of all ages and abilities. His lessons are tailored, engaging and goal-focused, covering technique, musicality, grades and live performance. Helping students build drumming skills, confidence, discipline and creativity.
- [Piano – Nic Holmes](https://topoftherocktuition.com/teacher/piano-nic-holmes/): Nic is an accomplished pianist with over 20 years’ playing experience and four years’ teaching experience. Classically trained, he specialises in jazz and draws influence from artists such as Oscar Peterson, Joe Sample, Peter Beets, and Greg Phillinganes. He performs twice weekly with the Crushed Velvet Quartet and hosts a monthly jam session in Leamington Spa. Nic previously led Loughborough University’s Big Band and received a Loughborough University Arts Scholarship in 2021. He is also a multi-instrumentalist with extensive experience on saxophone and bass guitar, holding Grade 8 Jazz Alto Saxophone (Distinction, Trinity), Advanced Jazz Ensemble (Distinction, ABRSM), and a Gold Arts Award.
