Dominic is an exceptional drum tutor! 🥁 If you are looking for top-tier drum lessons at Top of the Rock Tuition in Warwick, Dominic McAvera is the absolute best choice. His technical expertise, patience, and incredible energy makes learning easy. He tailors every single session beautifully to keep things engaging, encouraging, and focused on your goals. The only downside and as such I have 4 stars has nothing to do with Dominic himself—it is just that he has set the bar so high! On the rare occasions that he is away and a substitute teacher fills in, the lesson simply does not match the same standard. No one quite matches Dominic’s teaching skills and energy behind the kit. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn!

Owner's reply
Thank you so much for this, we'll make sure Dominic sees it! Feedback like this genuinely means a lot to him and to all of us here. You've also flagged something we really do take to heart. When Dominic is away we want every lesson to still feel worth your time, and honestly you're right that it's a hard standard to meet. We're always working on it and it helps to hear it said directly. Harry was a little nervous going into his first drum lesson. James made him feel at ease and was so clear with his expectations and instructions. Harry absolutely loved his lesson and asked if he could go back tomorrow. I would highly recommend.

Owner's reply
Thanks so much for this, Elise! Nerves before a first lesson are so normal, but it sounds like James got Harry settled in quickly. Really glad Harry loved it and is already keen to come back, that’s exactly what we love to hear. We’ll pass this on to James, he’ll be made up. Looking forward to seeing Harry progress!

Took my young daughter for a taster session and she had a great time. Connor was incredibly patient and you could tell he had a wealth of experience with teaching kids her age. We will definitely be booking again soon!

We’ve been coming here for almost a year now. James and the team are knowledgeable and supportive, and the lessons feel genuinely tailored to the individual. There is so much care and effort in the way students are taught, encouraged and believed in, and that really stands out. A brilliant tuition studio!

Owner's reply
Thank you so much, Talita! A year with you already, that’s gone quick. It means a lot to hear the lessons feel tailored and that the care really comes through, that’s exactly what we aim for with every student. We’ll make sure James and the team see this, they’ll be really pleased. Thanks for being part of the Top of the Rock family!

My son has been having drum lessons with Dom for around four years, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Dom has a fantastic way of motivating and encouraging his students. My son genuinely looks forward to his lessons, enjoys practising at home, and has grown enormously in both confidence and ability. Dom has challenged him at the right pace, helping him achieve Grade 7 (merit) while ensuring that learning music remains enjoyable and not just focused on exams. A special thank you also to Kris, whose enthusiasm and passion for the studio shine through in everything he does. The whole team has created a welcoming and supportive environment where students can develop both their skills and their confidence. Thank you to everyone at Top of the Rock for helping my son develop not only as a drummer but also a real love of music. I would highly recommend Top of the Rock.

Owner's reply
Thank you so much for such a lovely review, Donna. It's been an absolute pleasure watching Jacob's journey over the last four years. Dom has done a fantastic job guiding and challenging him, and the results speak for themselves. Achieving Grade 7 with a Merit is a brilliant accomplishment, but what makes me happiest is that he's developed such a genuine love for music along the way. Jacob is a great young man, and I've particularly enjoyed helping him through his recent exams. His hard work, dedication and positive attitude have been fantastic to see, and he should be really proud of everything he's achieved. Thank you again for your kind words and for trusting us to be part of Jacob's musical journey. We can't wait to see what he accomplishes next!

My little boy has been having drumming lessons with Connor for the last year and started at 5 years old. He absolutely loves his lessons and has steadily improved. I work in a school where Connor teaches and all of the students who have lessons really look forward to them and I hear the improvement each term, which is fab! All of the teachers from Top of the Rocks that I have met have all been very personable, friendly, professional and above all else extremely talented and their enthusiasm is abundant and catching! Their assemblies are the talk of the school!!

Owner's reply
Thank you Kym! We need to get another Rock assembly in soon 😊

Wow, I can’t speak highly enough of Top of the Rock. After begrudgingly trying a number of different classes/clubs my ten year old has finally found something he clearly loves. He sprinted into his drumming lesson yesterday after looking forward to it all day. Kris and James (his teacher) are great guys. They are friendly, fun, enthusiastic and caring, as well as being very accomplished and professional. My son’s self-confidence has soared since he started playing and he’s making great progress. That has everything to do with his great tuition and the brilliant atmosphere at Top of the Rock! If you’re even contemplating drumming lessons, look no further. These guys are just brilliant.
