Music Lessons in Leeds
Learn an Instrument at Our Leeds Studio
Whether you’ve always wanted to pick up an instrument, your child has been asking about lessons, or you’re looking to take your playing further, Top of the Rock offers one-to-one music lessons in Leeds for all ages and abilities.
We teach drums, guitar, and vocals at our Leeds studio, with every lesson tailored to the individual. Your tutor will work with the music you enjoy, at whatever pace feels right. There’s no fixed syllabus and no pressure to go in any particular direction. Some of our pupils work towards graded exams. Others play purely for the love of it. Both are brilliant.
The first lesson is completely free. No commitment, no strings. Just a chance to meet your tutor, have a go, and see how it feels.

What We Teach at the Leeds Studio
We offer private, one-to-one lessons in three instruments at our Leeds studio:
Drum lessons with James Friday and Billy Dunn. From your first beat to complex fills and grooves, our drum rooms are kitted out with dual kits so you and your tutor play side by side. Find out more about drum lessons in Leeds.
Guitar lessons with Harry Mousley. Acoustic, electric, and all styles from pop and rock to blues and classical. Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced player wanting to push further. Find out more about guitar lessons in Leeds.
Piano lessons with Lilla Hall. Classical, jazz, pop and beyond. Lilla is a Leeds Conservatoire graduate and gigging musician who tailors every lesson to your goals and learning style. Find out more about piano lessons in Leeds.
Singing and vocal lessons with Holly Rolfe. Pop, rock, musical theatre, R&B and more. Holly works with your individual voice to build technique, confidence and range. Find out more about singing lessons in Leeds.
All lessons are available in 30-minute, 45-minute or 60-minute sessions. Payment is spread across 12 monthly direct debits with no binding contracts, so you can cancel any time.

Why Learn at Top of the Rock?
Every lesson is one-to-one. You get your tutor’s full attention for the entire session. Lessons are shaped around your goals, your taste in music, and the pace that works for you.
Your tutors are real musicians. Everyone who teaches at Top of the Rock performs and records alongside their teaching. They bring real experience from stages, studios and the music industry into the lesson room.
You choose the music. Song choice is a huge part of what we do. Pupils pick the songs they want to learn, which keeps things fun and means practice never feels like a chore. It’s one of the things parents and pupils mention most in reviews.
Grades are optional. We can prepare you for Trinity or Rockschool graded exams if that’s something you’re interested in, and they can count towards UCAS points. But plenty of our pupils learn purely for enjoyment, and that’s just as valid.
The first lesson is free. No commitment, no sales pitch. Just a proper lesson where you meet your tutor, have a go, and decide if it’s for you.

Part of Something Bigger
Top of the Rock isn’t just a studio with lesson rooms. We run regular showcases and live performance events where pupils get to play in front of a real audience. Our annual Christmas Showcase is a highlight for families across all three of our studios in Leeds, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon.
We also work with schools across Yorkshire, bringing music into the classroom and giving young people the chance to discover what they can do with an instrument and a bit of encouragement. If you’re a school looking for in-school music provision, you can find out more on our schools page.
